All your scissor are belong to us
I have two pairs of scissors near my home stitching area; one is an inexpensive pair, the other is more expensive. I usually use and travel around with the less expensive pair. The other day I happened to grab the other pair and I was reminded why one would use more expensive scissors: because cutting with them was like running a razor blade through warm butter. It was that effortless. So I decided to dredge through my scissors collection and see what I could come up with. I found nine pairs of scissors. I know I have more, but the others seem to be hiding.

The bottom three are my “good” scissors. Here’s a closer look at each of them:
This one is a pair of limited edition scissors from one of my local shops. It came with the leather case and has the shop logo engraved on it.

This is my Dovo stork pair:

This is my black Gingher pair which I got to match the scissor-holder necklace:

Now, for the less expensive scissors:
These are my other animal shaped scissors (stork and cat):

And the rest:

All of these scissors cut, but some are just more finely tuned: slightly sharper edges, better put together, better scissoring effect. The sad thing is that I’m missing several pairs. I know I have a couple of Dinky Dyes scissors somewhere, a pair of mini scissors attached to a clip, and several more folding scissors. I have a soft spot for folding scissors. Maybe the Cross Eyed Kat office will get a thorough cleaning this spring and I’ll be able to locate them all. Then I’ll need a special scissor holder!

Looking at your scissors collection just made my day! (I guess that makes me a scissors nerd, but I love them.) Thanks for posting the pics.

Love the pics, Kat! I have two Dinky Dyes pairs and one went AWOL for about a year and then resurfaced. It seems to be something they do.(-;
