Needlework Show – Spring 2009
It is that time of year again! No, I’m not talking about taxes, I’m talking about the Spring Online Needlework show! I was somehow able to get five new designs ready for this show, which opens at 1 pm central time today!
Three are the new Advent Ornaments: December 4, December 5 and December 6.

Like most of my designs, there is a story behind the design for December 6. Several years ago, the husband and I travelled to Germany over Thanksgiving and the week after. My brother lived there at the time and we had fun cooking a semi-authentic Thanksgiving dinner for his German friends. We went to several cities and visited the Christmas Markets. On the night of December 5, we put our shoes outside the door and St. Nicholas filled them with candy! December 6th is St. Nicholas Day, so this ornament has a boot that is filled with candies and fruit!
Yes, there will be twenty-four ornaments in this series, so start collecting now!
I am also releasing page 3 in the Briar Rose series:

Finally, I’m releasing a set of bookmarks in conjunction with this year’s Stitching for Literacycampaign. These bookmarks are all stitched over two. The one in the center with the sword is stitched on a dyed jobelan fabric and the other two are on a linen banding.

10% of proceeds from the sales of this chart will go to a literacy charity/fund.
Ok, finally, the contest for this year’s Needlework Show! Please post in the comment section below what new design you would like to see in the future from Cross Eyed Kat. At the end of the show, I’ll pick three random winner from all the posts to receive a free chart!
Enjoy the show!

I love those bookmarks, Kat!
As for what new design I’d like to see from Cross Eyed Kat, I think I would like to see a dragon design that honours fathers. You have Mother’s Treasure, so what about one like Father’s Warrior? A father dragon could be showing his little dragon how to breath fire or do other dragon things.

I would love to see a pattern with a Savannah Cat playing or doing something cute!

I love your mazes and the ancient world series, I did the original labyrinth pattern a couple years ago and it is still one of my favorites.
I think that a new installment of the ancient world series featuring STONEHENGE would be fantastic, that is what I would like to see.

I am looking of a perfect needlework kit for my mother. She has made hundreds of quilts and sown many a dress for us girls. Thank you for your woenderful designs.

As for me, I would love to see more oriental designs. There are a lot of them out there but none quite to my taste. Your origami ornaments are devine…keep up in that vein

I would love to see more bookmarks – I can do more of those than I can of the big projects, besides – who can’t use bookmarks!?!
April 15th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
More dragons! One can never have enough dragons.
April 15th, 2009 at 4:05 pm
I’d like to see more of the ancient world series as well. Stonehedge would be good. Jersualam, Athens, Giant’s Causeway in Ireland.
Or perhaps a Mandala?

I do hope to see more of the mazes. I’ve just stumbled onto yours recently and I’d like to see more variety in color in the same piece.
Thank you!

Hey Kat, I love seeing the progress of your Briar Rose design !!!!
For new designs – I’d love to see more Mathisms – no other designer does those – they are so unique to you!
Question: Would you consider running your questions through Twitter for your next door prize?

I just fell in love with your Lucky Penny design.
Would be kinda neat if you could come up with a Silver and Black Dragon and a nickel…theme??? Maybe ” A Nickel is a lot luckier!”

April 17th, 2009 at 10:01 pm

April 18th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
I would like to see more mermaid designs.
April 18th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
Somebody beat me to the idea of a Stonehenge Ancient Mysteries, but that is what I would like. You could have runes for the border
April 18th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
I know it’s redundant, but I would really like Stonehenge in the world series. And the bookmarks are great — I’d love to see more of those!
April 19th, 2009 at 5:21 am
I would love to see some Unicorn designs. The Unicorn is our school mascot and I am the school librarian so a Unicorn reading or a Unicorn bookmark would be perfect.
April 19th, 2009 at 10:54 am
How about some ornaments or bookmarks that are orcs, dark elves, or other fantasy – myth creatures?
April 20th, 2009 at 3:16 pm
I LOVE your designs!
I would love to see a bear pattern heehee … ok this has nothing to do with me being a bear addict…lol
April 20th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
I read all the above comments, and I agree with a lot of them:
-Stonehenge for your ancient world series
-more bookmarks – maybe of dragon, mermaid or unicorn
I was also thinking of a dragon with a male [human] figure – I’m pretty sick of the ‘dragons with maidens’ schtick. I’m not talking about something adversarial (like St George), though. Maybe a teen boy with baby dragon (thinking Joust/Eragon/Dragon Boy here…)
April 20th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
I love your designs! It’s hard to say anything specific as I love what I see. I guess things in warm bright tropcial colors and a design.
Thanks,
Rhea

I’m a mermaid fan and love your Shared Cache design, so I vote for more mermaids.
Thank you for offering a door prize!
