Ok, I admit to being a bit of a techno-geek. We invested in MobileMe earlier this year thinking it would speed up email to the iPhone and be a good repository for documents that need to be accessed from multiple machines. I often have to transfer cross-stitch files from a development system to the system attached to the production printer, so using the “Cloud” from MobileMe seemed like a good idea. Now, while my DH likes using MobileMe, I have had nothing but trouble. And that’s trouble with email, the photo gallery and iDisk. So here’s my vent list:

1.	Requires Safari: This may all be well and good for promoting Safari and/or Macs, but I happen to be a PC; thus all of my systems have IE. That means I cannot access MobileMe until I install Safari on any system I want to access the cloud from. As a corollary, if I’m at an “event” that has PC web access, I can’t access my cloud at all because of the Safari limitation.
2.	Doesn’t “pull” email from a pop account: Here’s how I managed to f up my email with MobileMe. I had it get all my mail from an external POP server. Then I happily sorted and deleted email in the MobileMe interface. Then I hit the button to have it retrieve mail again from the POP server. It retrieved everything all over again because I had originally left everything on the server. I try again, this time removing email from the remote server. Now, I have multiple copies of emails on MobileMe, and no email in my original server.
3.	fee-based email: Because I have to pay for my email yearly, I could loose my email if I decide not to renew my MobileMe subscription (or I have to move all of it). Because there are so many free email providers (e.g. Gmail or Hotmail), I wonder at paying for email.
4.	No one-click download of pictures from gallery: if I’m logged in and looking at a photo gallery, I have to go to the public view of the gallery to download a picture (assuming I granted access). This is annoying when I want to edit a picture that I uploaded via my iPhone.
5.	iDisk not working: This feature simply isn’t working for me. I don’t know if we have some setting wrong since we have the family version, but the upload window simply sits and spins.

This year I feel like I have Christmas under control – which probably means things will spiral out of control at some point. However, I have almost all of the Christmas shopping done (and I’m not going to the malls), I’ve started the wrapping, I actually got the Christmas cards done (although not in the mail yet). Which is pretty good, considering last year I felt like I was running around like crazy and completely skipped the cards. So, to celebrate, here’s a picture of the (finally) ornamentized “Making Christmas”

The fabulous finishing job was done by Fran of Cathouse Angel Designs, so check there if you need a tuck pillow or ornament for finishng!

To add to the Christmas craziness, I am frantically working on new designs and class projects for the Winter TNNA show, which is in mid-January. It is 2-3 weeks earlier than Nashville Market, so I have less time, but on the other hand, I don’t have to do the productions runs that I need for Nashville, since it is an order only show. That whole yin-yang thing really works, doesn’t it.

I am really close to finishing one new design, and about to pick out colors for another. I need to sit down with sketch book and paintbrush in order to start getting ready for the summer show, but I’ll probably just be running behind again. It is hard to force creativity, and mine seems to come in spurts. I’m still very excited about the classes I’m teaching!

Meanwhile, this came into our lives shortly before Thanksgiving:

And it totally eats up time! Also, I have no sense of rhythm, which isn’t that much of an impediment in real life, but makes playing the drums harder.

Mocha liked getting things in boxes and is looking forward to Christmas for her own reasons:

One of her most favorite things is big paper bags, so we’ll see if Santa will bring her a new one this year.

First, I had an email slip-up. To the person from New Zeland who emailed me about the complimentary charts, please resend your email – it accidentally got deleted and is gone into the ether(net). This happened because my mail client will open up a window for viewing email which contains a red x on the menu bar. This button is similar to the button that closes a message that I have written. However, on the viewing email window, it deletes the message. D’oh. And my trash bucket doesn’t save anything either.

Second, the printer decided it didn’t want to cooperate. Snowfight: Yellow was finally done and I was trying to get a minor print run done of it. However, the printer decided to jam on every single page. I took three times as long to get the print run done.

Finally, I’m having problems connecting a wireless bridge to my router. Everything looks right, but somewhere there is probably a setting that needs to be changed.

In the end, something will work. Oh, I did add a Twitter feed to the right sidebar. Now, I can send little notes to the blog without opening it up for a big post!

Here is a look (finally) at “Snowfight: Yellow”, now shipping!

The blog finally got its very own web address. Welcome to www.katgetscrosseyed.com! So why the move? One reason is that the web address is easier to remember. A second reason is that having our own web host will hopefully allow some future experimentations that require space and bandwidth. More on that in the future. In the meantime, here is Mocha, the production assistant, to welcome you to our new home on the web:

In stitching news, we have a plethora of finished objects starting to pile up (and look – I learned how to do a thumbnail – isn’t that cool!): This is all in preparation for the June Needlework Market aka TNNA. Of course, just because the stitching is finished doesn’t mean there’s no more work to be done. There is still all the stretching, framing, and production work to do. The next two weeks are going to be very very busy.
